Prevention and treatment
Predictive genetic test for keloids: BILHI

What is a keloid scar?

The keloid scar is an over-healing caused by an excess of collagen in the dermis.

Taken from the Greek word "chele", which means crab claw, in reference to the way it develops on the skin, the scar is swollen, rubbery, varying from red to dark brown depending on the pigmentation of the skin.

This type of scar can appear spontaneously or as a result of surgery.

Potentially disabling depending on its location, it causes severe discomfort, both for its unsightly side and for the pain and itching that it can trigger.

How to avoid it?

There is now a genetic test to predict the appearance of a keloid scar: BILHI Skin Keloid.

Performing the BILHI Skin Keloid test before surgery can identify the risk - high or low - of each individual to develop a keloid scar. This information allows the patient and the surgeon to make an informed decision and to consider appropriate preventive measures.

How does the genetic test take place?

BILHI Skin Keloid is a completely painless saliva test, which is quick and easy:

The results

10 to 15 days after carrying out the test, the results are communicated by the medical biology laboratory directly to the surgeon. The patient then contacts his patient to communicate them to him and to consider the preventive measures to be implemented.
